Commercial Healthcare Joinery

Balgowlah Village Medical Practice, on Sydney's Northern Beaches, called for commercial joinery that could take everyday clinical use and still put patients at ease the moment they walk through the door. Most people never notice the joinery in a waiting room — they just sit down and feel calmer.

The reception run is curved in warm timber, with the seating booths and their planters built into the same line, so the greenery is part of the build rather than parked on top of it. Curves are where joinery stops being carpentry: on a straight run you can hide a lot; on a radius every panel has to be formed and every join has to disappear.

Through the practice, Marks Custom Joinery delivered consult and treatment room cabinetry and a full tea room for the staff — every piece drawn, built and installed for this space. Nothing off a shelf.
